Hi,

I have a question about the vacation entitlement when an employee is starting on the 15 of the month instead of the 1. It seems so far that the system is not counting half of the month in the entitlement. Am I missing something? We have a policy and entitlement of 28 days per year. Thank you Petra

Hey @binnepet

When setting up an accrual policy, you will have a number of options for the proration of vacation entitlement for the beginning of employment:

  • Daily prorated
  • Monthly prorated
  • No proration

If the employee is not receiving entitlement for half the month, then you may have chosen the Monthly prorated option for the beginning of employment. I would kindly ask you to check with your accrual policy settings to see which choice you have made.

If it’s the Monthly prorated option, then this means the employee will not receive any entitlement for the month unless they worked the full month.

If you wanted the employee to be granted half the month entitlement, then you should create a new accrual policy and for the beginning of employment, choose the daily prorated option. Then once created assign it to the respective employee.

This will grant the entitlement based on the full days of the month that have been worked. In your example, the employee worked 15 full days, so they should receive half of their monthly entitlement.

If you require any further assistance on this, please let me know 😃

Best,

Conor
