Transferring the first name from the personal data to a template variable does not work

Hello community,
I have created a template using the variable first_name. But unfortunately the template does not pull the first name from the personal data, the field just stays empty and I have to enter the first name manually. What can be the reason for this?

Thank you for your community question! The placeholder first_name is a Predefined placeholder, in order for the system to pick up this placeholder you will have to add Curly Brackets, see image below:
