Hi, some questions related to the breaks.

There’s the option to either restrict people from saving time entries if breaks are missing or don't comply with the break rules - or - to automatically add breaks if they are missing or don't comply with the break rules:

Now, it can happen that an employee works a total of 10h a day and he takes a 1h break in between. Which for us is still compliant with the rules. However, if this break is let’s say after his first 7h of work instead of his first 6 (or less), they won’t be able to save their entry. Or, in the latter case, they will have an additional 30min deducted after 6h of work, resulting in a 1.5h break that day instead of just the 1h that they manually tracked.

Is there a workaround for this? That the rules consider the whole working day?

Thanks in advance,

Sabrina

Hi @SabbuSchreiber,

The best solution for your scenario is to add a second break rule so that a 30 minute break is automatically added after 6 hours of work but an hour break is added if an employee works over 10 hours.

To do this, when you are adjusting the Break rules in the Work schedule settings, click Add new rule, enter the details and click Save changes.

Hi @Steve,

Thank you for your reply and suggestion.

I thought about this before, however, this issue also applies to the 30min break. For example:

Working time: 07.30-17.00
Break: 14.00-14.30

In this case, the break of 30min is still compliant if the employee works more than 6h but if entered like this, it would still deduct him 30min extra after exact 6h of work (in this example at 13.30). This would then falsely add up to a 1h break even though he took the 30min and is still compliant.

Does that make sense?

Best,

Sabrina

Hi @SabbuSchreiber,

In that case, a break at 14:00 wouldn’t be compliant. The rule requires a 30 minute break after 6 hours of work so the employee should take a break at 13:30 to be compliant, otherwise the 30 minutes will be deducted automatically with the chosen settings. In this case, wouldn’t you be better off setting the Break rules to After 06:30 hours of work 00:30 minutes break required? In your situation, you may wish to review the other options of alerting or restricting employees when it comes to break rules instead of the automatic option.

Let me know if I can provide further information. 😀

Steve
