Hi Community! 👋🏻How are you managing candidate experience at your organisation? I remember my first interaction with the Personio recruiting department as if it were yesterday. The gentle voice on the phone asked politely about my availability for an interview. My enthusiasm was high, yet I never expected to have such a stellar candidate experience. The recruiter kept me informed and regularly updated throughout the interview process, ensuring that I both shared and received feedback. They maintained my excitement throughout the entire process. When I eventually joined, I knew I had made the right decision because the welcome and attention I received were remarkable.Having an outstanding candidate experience can genuinely help any organization maintain a positive reputation and reduce employee turnover rates. As HR professionals, one of your main missions is to attract and hire top talent. However, that can be a real challenge if the hiring process and the candidate experience are

Hi community, Happy Monday! ☺️ 📚Recently I read the book “Dare To Lead” by Brenè Brown where she discusses her breakthrough research on vulnerability. Her insights offer a transformative lens through which HR leaders can navigate the challenges and opportunities of our time.Brown’s work reminds us that vulnerability is not weakness but a profound resource of strength. As HR leaders, embracing vulnerability means having the courage to acknowledge your own limitations and seek help when needed. It means being open to change and admitting when we don’t have all the answers. Vulnerability fosters trust, authenticity and connecting with HR teams and throughout the organisation. 💪🏻 Another important aspect of leadership is courage, and courage is a cornerstone of effective HR leadership. Brown teaches us that courage is not the absence of fear but the willingness to act in spite of it. HR leaders must have the courage to tackle difficult conversations, confront bias and discrimination a

Dear Community,Sustainability is becoming more and more important. Legal developments are also contributing to the fact that sustainability is becoming increasingly important for companies. For example, the new CSRD (Corporate Sustainability Reporting Directive) requires companies to be more transparent and responsible with regard to environmental and social standards. ℹ️ CSRD: “The Corporate Sustainability Reporting Directive (CSRD) is the new EU legislation requiring all large companies and listed SMEs, to publish regular reports on their environmental and social impact activities. [...] The new CSRD entered into force on 5 January 2023.” - Plan AAs an employer that meets these guidelines, you are not only legally protected, but you also signal that you stand for a sustainable future. What does this mean for HR?Well, the priorities of talent in the job market have changed: More and more employees are looking for companies that go beyond their economic goals and actively demonstrate r
Hi Community,Time management plays a central role in productivity and personal well-being. One of the key elements for staying calm and collected in a fast-paced environment is, for example, the reduction or targeted planning of meetings. Some of you might have already established a framework like "no meetings before 11 a.m." or similar, that aims to promote the most productive phases of the day.💡 At Personio, we also have a so-called "Winning Wednesday" on which there are no internal meetings. The goal here is to support employees in accomplishing their tasks and thus avoid interruptions, such as those caused by too many meetings. Why time management is crucial for HR professionalsTime management means nothing other than how you schedule your own time. Whether the phases can then be classified as "productive" depends on how much or what one manages to accomplish in the planned time.As an HR professional, you are faced daily with tasks such as hiring new talent, personnel development
Dear Community, this month we celebrate PRIDE! With the ongoing journey towards diversity, equity and inclusion, Pride Month and today's International Pride Day are central events that celebrate the beautiful identities of the LGBTQIA+ community.Where did Pride Month originate? To understand the origins of Pride Month, we need to take a trip back to the 60s. The Stonewall Riots represent a significant moment in the movement for the LGBTQIA+ community. At the time, the protests were held on the occasion of a police raid at the Stonewall Inn bar in New York City. The Riots were the start of a movement that numerous businesses and organisations are following today. What does “Pride" mean in the workplace? In a recent report on LGBT+ people in the workplace published by Deloitte, 600 respondents were surveyed from a pool of international employees. The results revealed that 79% of employees found that employers are already trying to promote LGBT+ inclusion. 42% said they had already experien
Dear Community,"What means? How does? Name? What do I need to look out for when?" All of these are questions that artificial intelligence (AI) programs like ChatGPT can answer. The popular chatbot ChatGPT can engage in human-like conversations and answer (simple and complex) questions within seconds, write entire paragraphs of text and even code a website from scratch. 1️⃣ What is ChatGPT?“ChatGPT is a model developed by the US company OpenAI. Through the deployment of AI systems it interacts in a conversational way so that it can follow instructions and give detailed responses. The dialog-based exchange allows the program to ask follow-up questions, to admit errors, to question false premises, and to reject inappropriate requests.” - OpenAI 2️⃣ Can HR benefit from this?HR professionals can leverage artificial intelligence programs and thereby create advantages in their day to day work. Among other things it is possible to… ✍️ Write HR documents such as termination letters or applicati
Dear Community,With every new generation, the ideas and expectations towards employers evolve. For baby boomers, statistics show that a stable job and a fixed income are what matter the most. Millennials, on the other hand, seem to value work-life balance more than anything.Little by little, the next generation of employees is entering the workforce, Generation Z. But how will this influence the HR world? 👀 💡Definition: Generation ZGeneration Z, also Gen Z, refers to the population group born from 1996 to 2009. (cf. Statista) Due to the differences between several sources, the exact time period is still uncertain. However, this generation is referred to as "Post-Millennials", i.e. they are born after the Millennials. Generation Z as the next generation of employeesDigital Natives As a generation that has grown up in the age of digitalization, digital media is simply part of their everyday lives. Communication is increasingly taking place on digital media such as smartphones or laptop
Hello Personio Community, We are growing exponentially and of course want to maintain or develop our good culture. How do you combat rapid growth vs. loss of culture?Hallo Personio Community, Wir wachsen exponentiell und möchten natürlich unsere gute Kultur erhalten bzw. weiterentwickeln. Wie steuert ihr gegen schnelles Wachstum vs. Kulturverlust an?
Dear Community,Inflation and recession have probably been the most frequently used terms in the last few months. Everyone has witnessed it, and everyone has experienced the effects first-hand. Increasing costs of living and taxation affect how much is left of the net wage at the end of the month. However, SMEs in particular, which are trying to keep their costs as low as possible due to the unstable economic future, cannot always offer a salary increase. You’re probably asking yourself what other alternatives are there. No need to look further, we got the perfect answer: “Net wage optimisation” 💡What does “Net wage optimisation” mean? With net wage optimisation, employees give up part of their gross wages, but in return receive additional benefits or allowances - which are, under certain conditions, tax-free. For the company itself, this form of benefit also means that there are no non-wage labour costs - which is advantageous for both parties, isn't it? 👍What can I do as an employer?
Dear Community, how do you stay up-to-date with what's going on in the company and other departments? E-mail, intranet or exchanges during the coffee break? ☕️What does internal communication look like in your company? Do you have regulated processes and instruments that you use to communicate information? 🗣️ 😇 We’ll cover the first questions about internal communication in advance:1️⃣ What does "internal communication" actually mean?Internal communication is a corporate communication tool. It uses clearly defined media and communication channels to convey relevant messages and ensures communication between organisational management and staff. At best, the company's goals are communicated through this organised exchange of information. In addition to formal communication - i.e. the official channels used by a company - informal communication is also a component of internal communication, also known as “corridor talk” or in-house communication.2️⃣ What kind of internal communication in
Dear Community,Who of you are familiar with the following questions:What is going well / not well in your daily work? What suggestions for improvement would you have for your lead or your team? What do you wish for in your role or in the company? All these questions (and more) are addressed in employee engagement surveys. The goals of such surveys can vary. For instance, they can be used for:💯 Performance and feedback🚨 Satisfaction and early warning system👍 Opportunities for improvement Employee engagement surveys not only show that you care, but they can also be helpful for strategies, policies, and help HR with future challenges. If the surveys add so much value for employees and companies, why do employees often get the feeling that their answers are not acted upon or become less important?"What" happens after such questioning is an indication of whether or not respondents feel understood. If the "elephants" in the room are not being addressed, the evaluation might seem to be not
Dear Community,The new year is always a good occasion to reflect on the past year and think about how and what could change in the upcoming months. A new year is often associated with "new beginnings", but for HR departments it is much more a matter of "new strategy". 👀 So, how is your HR team preparing for what is likely to be a challenging year for the people function? What is your HR strategy for the new year 2023? 👉 Have you already thought about what you might want to change or focus on?If not, don't worry: our CPO Ross Seychell provided you with a... Summary of HR strategy trends for 2023 💡 1. Focus on your goals and prioritiesOne of the most important things in 2023 will be how to support employees in the face of the recession while avoiding burnout. This is why setting up and communicating strict priorities will be essential in the new year. Also, making sure that business goals are broken down into department and team goals so that the HR Team knows what is expected of th
A ‘Think Tank’ category dedicated to all things Remuneration, Recognition/Award, Reward, BenefitsThis is a ‘hot topic’ in HR/People at the moment with how we review someone’s Total Reward - not just their salary and ensure we are providing the support that they need to have a good overall Wellbeing. This is across Physical, Mental, Emotional and Financial.Remuneration - Basic Pay, BonusesRecognition - This is non-monetary, non-gift - something anyone can give to anyone else or in some cases nomination based Awards.Reward - These are the prizes, gifts, etc. that can come as a result of Recognition/Award. i.e. someone wins ‘Employee of the month’ then is rewarded with £50Benefits - These are things like enhanced Pension, Insurance, etc. Collectively this makes up someone’s Total Reward - which can often be quite different from one employer to the next - as some might offer higher Remuneration but few/no Benefits - the outcome being lower Total Reward (not higher as many might think).
Quiet quitting is becoming a popular topic among the HR world. Different sources describe this term as doing exactly what you need in your job, nothing more and nothing less. This is contrary to the “go above and beyond” mentality, which is normally what allows you to develop within your working place. There are different theories about why employees are giving up to going the extra mile. One of them is the situation during the pandemic, in which mental health became a main topic, thus enhancing the importance of work-life balance. This phenomenon can bring new challenges for HR professionals: 💪🏼 It might be necessary to explore new ways to maintain employees motivated.💆🏻♀️ This might be an opportunity to prevent burn-outs, enhancing practices to maintain mental health among organizations. 📌 It might help to find better matches between employee and job offers, since employees are not willing to do a job they are not really motivated for.🤝 Furthermore, the importance of organiza
Dear community,A while back, a fellow Personio user asked an interesting question in the round and I would like to re-share it with this community, since it hasn’t been discussed here yet.I hope this can be useful for those looking for inspiration, so I look forward to the discussion! Hi there! I would love to start a discussion about 🎅🏼🎁 Christmas gifts for employees (it's never too early to start 😀).As Director of People, it’s my task to select Christmas presents that the company will gift to its employees. So far I've already organized the following gifts: branded hoodies, engraved AirPods, etc. This year, I am thinking about giving a yearly subscription to an online service where you can read thousands of summarized books, but I am still looking for ideas - how about you? Now we would love to hear your input! What is something that you have given to employees, or ideas about what you could give them this year?Or, to flip it around: what would you, as an employee, be happy to rec
