Dear community,

Have you ever encountered the situation in which an employee is leaving the company during the year and Personio is giving them their full vacation entitlement, even though it is set to be prorated?

Due to a German regulation, entitlements are granted entirely if an employee leaves the company in the second half of the year. This means that, even if the proration for a certain absence was activated in the accrual policythe system will grant them the full entitlement.

We know this feature is not ideal and our product team is already developing the accrual policies feature further, for it to comply with international best practices as well.

Until then, we want to share two possible solutions with you:

  1. Check and adapt the absence entitlement on the employment termination process: When setting up the termination of employment of a certain employee, you can check if the entitlement they would have until they leave the company is correct, or if you need to make adjustments:
Employee profile > Terminate employment
  1. Undertaking a manual adjustment in the absence balance: Another option is to adjust the employee’s absence balance manually in their profile:
Employee profile > Absence tab

We will inform you as soon as we release the improvement for this feature.

Please share any question you might have with us. We are always listening!

Best regards,

Your community team 🤝🏼
