Hi Community,

Today, I’m making my final stop on my journey through the Community – and what better place to end than in the Community Café? This is a space for casual conversations and fresh perspectives – perfect to talk about something close to my heart: the magic of Christmas! 🎄

As Community Holiday Elf, I’m always looking for magic and that little spark that gets people excited. Along the way, I’ve discovered something wonderful: Christmas magic is different for everyone. Sometimes it’s the beautiful lights and the lively atmosphere of a Christmas market. Other times, it’s the quiet, magical moments – a walk through the snow or the joy of giving someone a special gift.

What makes Christmas ✨magical✨ for you?

Share your memories, thoughts, or traditions of what makes the festive season special for you:

  • What are the little things that bring you joy every year?
  • Do you have a tradition that’s especially important to you?
  • Is there a memory that stays with you every Christmas?
  • Or maybe a cookie recipe you swear by?
  • Please do share your favourite Christmas movie and/ or series 😀
  • ...

Let’s collect and inspire one another, making the countdown for Christmas even more exciting! I’m looking forward to reading through all of your comments and learn more about the magic of your Christmas! 🤶

A big thank you to everyone who has already taken part in our fundraising campaign - you’ve shown the power of Community! But there’s still time to make an even greater impact:

Until December 30th, for every comment, we’ll donate £5 to the charity Crisis UK.

Wishing you all a wonderful holiday season,
Your Community Holiday Elf

Hey @Community Holiday Elf

Christmas is my favourite time of year and there are a lot of things that stand out to me as making it special. The main ones would be:

  • The Christmas cookie recipe I have made every year since I can remember, I have continued this tradition with my little sister and hope it goes on for many years to come. We also sing ‘ in der Weihnachtsbackerei’ whilst doing it until someone gets fed up of it :P
  • The decor everywhere, when I see someone has made an effort to bring the Christmas cheer, it makes me happy
  • The clothes - I have a different Christmas jumper for every day in December and the collection is growing.

One Christmas tradition I wish I could get rid of - Elf on the shelf!

I LOVE Christmas!
Growing up in Canada - it was all about the chilly winter nights in front of the fire with a dog on my lap and chestnuts literally roasting in an open fire :)

I love baking, so we are always trying new things.

Asfor recipe - Nigella has one for a fabulous Chestnut cheesecake

My favourite Christmas movie is the stop motion Rudolph The Red Nosed Reindeer (1964)

We have a tradition of watching fun but silly high-octane action films - anything with Jason Statham, Mark Wahlberg or my fave Gerard Butler!

Hey you two,

thank you so much for sharing!

@People Person now I want to know which Christmas cookie recipe it is? 😍
And the fact that you’re singing “in der Weihnachtsbackerei” is super sweeeet!
For the Community: It’s a very well known Christmas song in Germany! I actually found a source that has both the DE and EN translations for those who are curious.

That Chestnut Cheesecake looks delish!! @nicolegoodlord
I also love the combination of Rudolph The Red Noised Reindeer x Action movies 😄

@Nathan Jolly @Phil @suminair what makes Christmas magical for you? 🎄

Muppet’s Christmas Carol is my go to Movie!

Hey @Community Holiday Elf

It is a German recipe (as that's where my family is from) , from a Christmas baking book we have had for years, which uses Vanilla Sugar, which gives it a natural vanilla taste without having to use beans!
