In order to be able to help you the best way possible, I would like to clarify the following question:
- Are you using the DATEV integration? Is the attribute for passport part of the DATEV section of the employee profile?
If this is not the case, the attribute you are referring to must be a customized one. This means that you should be able to add an extra option or Attribute under Settings > People > Employee information.

Thanks for getting back to me.
Turns out it was a setting that had been pre-set by the CEO to have all employee detail read as “unique”, which is helpful for passport numbers which would be unique but fails in Issuing Country as many will be issued by the same country.
Matter now resolved internally but thanks for the response,
