Dear HR people,

I have a situation where a Team Lead will go on maternity leave for 10 months. We are considering to offer an ‘interim’ position of one of her team members. This person will potentially take on the full Team Lead role for the time being.

We had these situations before, where it was a shorter period (± 4 months) and where not all the Team Lead responsibilities were performed by the team member. In those situations, we didn't compensate for it.

Now, however, I'm considering to compensate since its a longer period.

I'm curious to hear how others usually approach this?

Thanks in advance for your input!

Hi @brittbosma,

We’ve never had this situation but I like your approach with a temporary compensation during that time. An additional option could be instead of having a temporary salary raise, to do a one time compensation at the end or every 3 months or so? Just thinking out loud. ☺️

For the settings side in Personio, I know that when you edit the profiles, you can make changes (i.e. supervisor for team members) temporary:

I haven’t seen the temporary salary changes as of yet so I guess I would just create two separate entries for the change and reverting back later.
