Generative AI is, as you’ve no doubt been told a million times, revolutionary. Everything from pharmaceuticals and medical care to education and finance is at risk of being impacted by this technology. In fact, it’s even been seen as the path to massive job loss numbers.

However, is there a chance that the hype isn’t real? Or, hang on, let’s dial that back a bit. Is there a chance that generative AI won’t be as bad for job security as previously thought? A recent survey shows this may be the case, with 99% of respondents saying that generative AI isn’t replacing jobs.

So, were the doomsayers wrong? Or is there something more nuanced happening here? For me, it’s still important to address the skills gap when it comes to generative AI. Sure, it may not immediately lead to as many job losses as once imagined, but figuring out how this technology can help employees be more productive can be a great way to prepare for any future risks.

What do you think? Is generative AI a real threat to jobs or just overhyped?
