More of a product request I believe. But is there a way for the company to create employee badges and grant them to its employees? Eg “Employee of the Month”

currently there is no specific feature on that.
What you can already do is to create an additional attribute in the public profile of the employees and assign a text like "Employee of the month" here. (Creating Custom Sections and Attributes)
If you think this would be a great feature that also other customer might love, you can submit it as an idea in the Ideation are, find more information here:
