Hi - the Easter bank holidays for England are Friday 18 April (Good Friday) and Monday 21 April (Easter Monday). 

There isn’t a UK-wide set of public holidays - Scotland and Northern Ireland have different bank holidays to England and Wales: https://www.gov.uk/bank-holidays

From what I can see there was no response from Personio directly on this?  Those two Bank Holidays have not been added, so do we need to add them manually for all staff in England?

Hi - when we went through the original implementation process with Personio, they recommended that we create and use a copy of the relevant public holiday, and add our own relevant bank holidays to that ‘Custom’ version.

Not sure why the system version of UK public holidays is not kept updated correctly - but it might be because England and Wales have different Bank Holidays to Scotland and Northern Ireland...

I am escalating this issue. It will be not fun to catch some errors in the system every year. :)

The system is clever enough to put Good Friday and Easter Monday in the right place each year, once you have added them - here’s this year and next as examples. They are the only two BHs that move each year, but the system works it out around Easter Sunday.

would it make sense to implement the change in the overall UK calendar instead of asking each customer-company to create own bank holiday country calendars? maybe someone in Personio updates the national holidays one the year starts.

Yes - totally agree! I’m not sure why this doesn’t happen. This process has also caused me to spot that the late May Bank Holiday wasn’t in my 2026 calendar (because sometimes it falls on the 4th Monday and sometimes on the 5th Monday of May, and the options available don’t allow for that to be automated). So I agree that it doesn’t really work well currently to ask each company to keep this updated for themselves.

But again, just to be picky (in case anyone at Personio is reading), there isn’t a single ‘UK’ set of Bank Holidays. So they would need an ‘England & Wales’ version, a ‘Scotland’ version, and a ‘Northern Ireland’ version :)

There are about 17 German public holiday calendars in the System selection, so it would seem possible for Personio to make this work for UK customers too.
