Hello,

I am setting up our first Performance Cycle using Personio. I created a cycle that includes Self Reflection, Peer Review, Manager Review and Upward Review.

I have a question in regard to Peer Reviews, I read an article on this topic, called 'Peer Reviews', but I still don't seem to find a clear answer to my question:

Can employees themselves choose colleagues they want to receive the feedback from? If so, how can they do that?

The below guidance is provided in the article:

'Under Performance & Development > Cycles, click on the review cycle name to access the details of the review cycle.

Click on the three dots located to the right and select Request peer feedback.

To assign Peer reviews to the relevant peers, select the checkbox beside the names of the peers. Click on the Send requests to employees butt.’

It seems to me that only person who is setting up a Performance Review Cycle (me in our case) can select colleagues for a Peer Review for each individual employee in that cycle. Is my understanding correct?

Could you also advise what access rights would you recommend for all employees to the Performance Data section? If they only have a view rights, can they submit and request the Feedback for their peers?

Many thanks,

Elada

hi Elada, from my contacts with Personio, I understood that only HR and the supervisor can assign peer reviewers; not the individuals themselves. I have proposed to change this… We should trust our team members that they select the right colleagues for a peer review

Best, Wouter

Hello Elada,

also in my experience, only HR and supervisors can add peers to feedback. We have therefore specified in our internal process documentation on feedback for employees that they should report peers to HR or their supervisor. We then always have a mix of peers from whom, on the one hand, the supervisor wants to see feedback and, on the other hand, the employee wants to receive feedback. However, the employees cannot see it; the supervisor would have to go through this with the employee.

As far as I know, there are not many options in the settings to assign access rights for performance. Too many access rights for employees would not be good in my opinion, because otherwise they might see or set too much.

Best regards,

Sascha

Thank you for your helpful responses, Wouter and Sascha. This setting seems to be quite restrictive, our Performance reviews (we call them Career Development conversations) are driven by the employees rather than managers. I will propose the change to Personio team.

Regards,

Elada

Dear @Elada,

Thank you very much for sharing your question with us!

Sascha and Wouter are right. At the moment, the only possibility to create peer reviews is through the Performance Cycle. Thus, only admins and employees with Edit rights for Performance and Development are able to manage this kind of feedback.

Your idea of enabling employees to ask feedback from each other, does not yet exist in our ideation area. It would be wonderful if you would share it there! If you need some inspiration, we have published a guide on how to best share your ideas here:

→ How to: Submit an idea or suggest a new feature

Special thanks to @woutervanlinden and @Smarti16 for the peer support 🙌🏽 💪🏼. We really love to see users helping each other out!

Please let me know if any of you have any further question about this topic. I wish you all a great day 🌟.

Best,

Andrea

P.S. Have you checked out our upcoming customer event?

  • On the 1st of September, my colleague Lena will present briefly and clearly the latest features in Personio, how you can implement the settings in the account and give you tips and tricks during our monthly Product Update. Check the details and register 👉🏼 here.

@Andrea

Can you tell me if anyone has created the ideation request yet? I did a search for it be could not find anything. Also for us it of the utmost importance that employees can request their own peer reviews at random times in the year (they work project based and require to get peer-feedback on their project work) so I would like to at least add my vote.

Thanks,
Marjolijn

Dear @Marjolijn,

I checked our ideation area and did not find any idea for this suggestion for improvement. Please feel free to post it and share it in this thread! Then @Elada, @woutervanlinden and @Smarti16 can cote for it.

Thank you very much and have a lovely weekend 🌻.

Best,

Andrea

@Andrea ,
