📝💡 The Art of Writing a Compelling Job Description & Attracting  Top Talent!

Note: This is a practical activity offered to you by our Voyager Academy as part of the Talent Attractor learning path

Today we invite you to a special Community discussion/activity. Thanks to the Academy courses you’ve already completed in the Talent Attractor path, you already know all about the theory of writing a compelling job description - now it's time to put what you've learned into practice. But before you put pen to paper, let's take a look at how you can complete the activity.

✏️ How You Can Participate:

  1. Choose a Position: Think of a position for which you want to write a job description. This can be a real position from your company or a fictional one for e.g. a Product Manager - see details in Show Content.

    About the Company:

    BestHome Products is a leading supplier of high-quality household goods. Their goal is to improve the lives of their customers through innovative and practical products.

    Role Overview:

    They are looking for a dedicated Product Manager to develop their consumer products portfolio. This role involves defining product strategy, conducting market analyses and working with various teams to successfully bring products to market.

    The ideal candidate will have a Bachelor's degree in Business Administration, Marketing or a related field and at least 3+ years of experience in product management​​​​​​

     

  2. Write the Job Description: Use the knowledge you gained from the "HR Best Practices: Talent Attraction" learning path to create an attractive job description. If you need more guidance, check out the following tips:
     
    1. Clear and Inviting Title: What job title accurately describes the position and is also appealing?
    2. Concise and Interesting Introduction: Why should someone find this job interesting? What makes the position or the company special?
    3. Detailed Description of Responsibilities: What are the main tasks and responsibilities of this position?
    4. Clear Requirements and Qualifications: What skills and qualifications are important for this position? (These can include both technical and soft skills)
    5. Appealing Benefits and Work Culture: What benefits does the company offer, and what aspects of its culture should be highlighted?

About the role:
We are looking for a Product Manager. You will be responsible for the development of our product portfolio in the area of household goods. Your tasks will include defining product strategies, market analyses and working with various teams to successfully bring products to market.

Requirements:

  • Bachelor's degree in business administration, marketing or a comparable field
  • At least 3 years of experience in product management
