Hi,
I’ve run into a problem with an accrual policy with tenure based vacation day entitlements. The normal accrual in the policy is 30 days/ year granted as 2.5 days per month. According to the tenure based rules employees should receive 1 additional vacation day after their 5 year tenure. The tenure based days should be granted at the start of the subsequent accrual period.

The problem I’m seeing is that the additional day is granted in different ways to employees within the same policy. Some employees receive 1 additional day at the start of the subsequent accrual period, just as it should be and then continue to accrue 2.5 days per month on top of this.

Other employees do not receive 1 additional day at the start of the subsequent accrual period, but instead accrue 2.58 days per month.

Does somebody have a clue why the granting method would be different for employees with the same accrual policy?

Thanks in advance for any help!

Hi @Kaisa ,

Happy new year 😄

So, there are two different ways that tenure-based entitlements are displayed:

  • An employee reaches their 5 year anniversary in the previous year and in the following year gets an extra day for the first time: The day is displayed separately from the monthly entitlement of 2.5 days as a way of indicating that the entitlement has changed from that year onwards
  • For employees with a tenure of 6+ years, the extra day is already calculated as part of their monthly absence entitlement (2.58 * 12 = 31), as the entitlement permanently increases by one day after 5 years

The same is true if the absences are granted on an annual basis.

I hope this explains the behaviour here!

Best
Jana

Hey @Kaisa ,

Happy New Year!

So,I would suggest you must create 2 accrual policies.

  • 1 for employees who join in the beginning of the month (Proration at start of employment: Monthly) and
  • second for the employees who join in the middle of the month (Daily).

Be careful with the granting rules for each Accrual policies and their proration

I guess the different start dates along with the points mentioned above can be a reason why you are facing such issues. Those 2.5 days oer month are temporary grants. Maybe you can check the duration you have entered once.

The tenure based rules usually works during work anniversary (First, second or x Work anniversary)

Create a TBR in both Accrual policies, So according to the hire dates the employees get 1 more vacation day after their 5th yearly work anniversary.

Try it and it shall work.

Thanks @Jana R. This probably explains the difference in the way the tenure based days are granted.
