Employment type currently offers only two options:

  • internal
  • external.

We would really like to use a third one: contractor.

It seems that it is not possible to edit the preset attributes, is there something Personio can do??

Hello @Tset_HR 😊,

The attribute Employment Type is a preset attribute which cannot be edited or deleted. However, you can create a new Custom Attribute, so you can have the information available within the employee profile.

I also would like to suggest you the below workaround on how to set up the Contractors employee profile. Let me know if that would be ideal for you:

1) Create a new employee profile enter External as the employment type. If you do not want your employee shown in the Payroll, departments.. etc. do not add such Attributes: supervisor, position, department. These settings ensure that the newly created employee profile is not shown in your payroll, teams or departments. It is therefore largely hidden from all other employees in your company.
However, if the contractor needs to be in a team or department, please fill in the attributes.

2. The hire date is supposed to be set, because the profile needs to be active in order to receive notifications (e.g. for onboarding).

3. Since the employment type is external, the profile will not appear in the headcount report for internal employees.

I hope this helps. For more information, I invite you to consult our Helpcencer article:

At the same time, I would like to invite you to share your suggestion of improvement in our ideation area. This way, other users will be able to vote for it, and the suggestion will be shared with our product team.
In order for us to fully understand your idea, I share with you a couple of questions that your description should clarify when posting in the ideation area:

  • What would you like to achieve with Personio? What issue do you need to solve?
  • Why? What would be the added value for you?
  • How are you solving it right now?

The more details, the better! However, remember not to share any personal or business data with the public.
Make sure to add the link to the idea in this thread, so that other users that find your question can upvote it.
Thank you in advance for sharing your ideas with us 😊.

Best,

Anna Lisa
