Hello Community,
I have a question so burning, I decided to sign up and raise it here, hopefully I can reach someone who has the same/similar concerns and we can brainstorm for a solution, as I am running out of ideas for workarounds.
We have quite some teams with two equal supervisors, and we differentiate between them as:
“Supervisor” - the main system attribute
and “Co-Supervisor” - for this field, we, until now, used an open text field just to enter the name, but now, with the secondary supervisor function, I’m more than excited to give Co-Supervisors a better user experience.
As I was setting up the access rights, aka an Employee Role, for the newly added Co-Supervisor field, I quickly realised the accesses under Performance & Development cannot be granted based on the reporting line / “dotted line”. My options thus are, if I understand well:
- Option 1: do not grant access here, and rely on the default setting: every supervisor gets access to their direct reports’ assigned cycles
- Option 2: grant access to cycles and let Co-Supervisors also start/edit their own cycles
Option 1 leaves without any additional value as Co-Supervisors do not count as Supervisors, and Option 2 would be simply “too much” from my perspective, I would not like to grant Co-Supervisors the right to create and edit cycles.
So my questions are:
1: What options do I have to overcome this issue?
2: Can we expect, that in the future, also additional supervisors will be considered as supervisors in this field OR idea: have a drop-down option as we have for teams (with or without subteams) to choose whether under “Supervisor” we mean just the assigned Supervisor or additional supervisors included?
Thanks for the answers in advance, and let me know if there’s anything I should clarify!
