Best Practices for Manager Notes During Performance Reviews

Hi everyone,

We’re  looking into our performance review cycle in Personio and want to make it as smooth as possible for managers and employees. Our current challenge is that managers often need to reference the employee’s self-review while simultaneously taking notes during the 1:1 discussion.

Right now, the typical workaround is using a separate document (Word) for meeting notes, but we’d like to keep everything within Personio to simplify the workflow and ensure all data is centralized.

We’re particularly interested in:

  • How other companies structure their templates to allow managers to see the employee self-review and add notes (document set goals and agreements, as well as feedback) - in one view if possible.

  • Best practices for capturing discussion points together with self-review questions versus in a separate discussion notes section.

  • Any tips for keeping the process efficient, especially for managers who run multiple reviews in a short time frame.

Any examples, screenshots, or workflow tips would be super helpful.

Thanks in advance for your insights!

Dear @EevaT, we somehow completely missed this question.
I’m terribly sorry. Do you still need help?

Best,
Daniele

Hi Daniele, yes this is still a paint point for us that we were not able to solve. Happy for any tips or best practices :)

Unfortunately I cannot help with it as I don’t work in HR myself. But if you’d like to reach a much larger group of people, you could ask this question also on the German community: community.personio.de.
There are many more active users there.

I see you’re already registered there with the same username.

(Let me know if you need help with translating, I’m happy to help)
