Hi @Volvic

Glad to hear you are looking into our Performance cycle functionality! We recommend using them as a way to improve how you run performance management and make it as seamless as possible to process this for multiple employees at once! It also ensures all feedback is consolidated in one centralised area.

Happy to share some handy resources on this with you below from our Community:

We would love to hear any advice yous may have 😊

Thank you all for any contributions and we would also love to hear from any other Community members that are familiar with this section of the product!

All the best,

Hi there.

We have a few performance cycles set up.

  1. Objective setting (though we might well move this to Goals functionality next year). This has a self review form with questions about each objective and a question on support/ training needs. Also a manager review form which just confirms that the manager and employee have discussed and agreed the objectives. this is open all year so new joiners can jump into it any time.
  2. Quarterly reviews. Also have a self review form that the employee fills, then a manager review form. These are closed off after the deadline passes.
  3. Also another for probation objectives and reviews.

The draw-back we find is that there isn’t an easy way to have the manager give input before the form is finalised. Before using Personio we had a form that was handed backwards and forwards between the employee and manager multiple times, so this feels like a big change for people.

Once the employee drafts the form, they can click to save as draft or click to submit it. If saved as draft, the manager can’t see it (unless the employee screen-shares of course). If finalised, nobody can make changes unless HR individually unlocks it.

The work-around is to tell them that the employee should populate it in draft form and meet with the manager to discuss and finalise together. But that’s a bit clumsy and open to errors and doesn’t give the manager any heads-up before the meeting. We often have to unlock these forms too!

I would definitely suggest running some tests before you launch anything and log in as an employee and manager to see what it looks like. Our managers have needed some guidance to find the completed self review forms, for instance. There also doesn’t seem to be a notification to managers when one of their direct reports completes a self-review form, which they would like to have.
