Hi community! :)

We’re preparing for the upcoming performance cycle.

After preparing the forms and doing some tests, I have the following questions:

  1. Upward review: for the test, we have set the following permissions
  • Sharing settings: Shared with supervisors
  • Confidentiality settings: Reviewers can decide
  • Reviewer selection: Automatically (all direct reports)

However, the review ended up being shared just with the manager’s supervisor. We’d like managers to see what their team members have to say about them (keeping the anonymity). Is this possible? Are we doing something wrong?

  1. Reviews release

2.1. We know that it’s possible to delay the release of the Manager’s evaluation. Is it possible to do the same for self-review? It seems that this one is visible immediately after submission. We’d like to have both managers and team members submit their evaluations at the same time, but without visibility of each other (to avoid bias).

2.2. In the test we did, the only way to release the reviews together (by the manager or admin, after the cycle owner enables sharing) was to “close the cycle”. Is there any other way to do it?

Your help is much appreciated! Thank you :)

Hi @fvdk !

@andra.enache might be able to help with this!

Hello @fvdk

  1. You are not doing something wrong ! With the setting you selected, the upward review will be shared with the manager, once you will close the cycle, or enable the sharing of the upward review.

  2. I don’t think it’s possible. The self-review is shared and you can’t change that. I think the idea behind it is to give more context for the manager to write his/her own review, with some inputs. As a manger you can then compare your review with the self-review. So in a way it can sometimes reduce bias 😉
A workaround I can propose is to select the Manager review date BEFORE the self-review.
For manager reviews, you can decide to share them after submissions or later in the cycle.

Hope that helps,

Nathan

Hi Filipa,

Regarding Upward review sharing: if the sharing configuration is set to Shared with supervisors, the review will always be accessible to them. However, if the Manager review sharing preference is set to Share reviews together, supervisors will only see the Upward review after their manager shares their own review along with the other reviews in the cycle.

On preventing Managers from viewing the Self review, @Nathan Jolly ‘s suggested workaround is the best option for now.

We’re currently working on a configuration to restrict Managers from accessing other reviews until they submit their own, and this feature will likely be rolled out by the end of Q1 next year.

Let me know if anything else comes up!
