Hello Community! 👋

I'm Catherine, a Product Marketer here at Personio, and I'm currently exploring one of the most talked-about topics in recruiting right now: AI-assisted candidate screening.

We're working on an initiative to help recruiters screen candidates faster, while keeping humans firmly in control of every hiring decision. Before we go further, I'd love to hear directly from you:

1. When it comes to screening candidates, where does the real pain lie? Is it the sheer volume of applications to get through? Inconsistency in how candidates are evaluated? Time pressure squeezing out the thoughtful review you'd like to do? Or something else entirely?

2. How do you think about the balance between speed and human judgment in your hiring process? Are you open to AI flagging or summarising candidates for you, as long as the final call stays with your team? Or does the idea of AI involvement in screening feel like a step too far right now?

🕵 Or, even better - do you have 15 minutes to chat? I'd love to hear your responses to the questions I’m posing directly from you. If you're up for it, you can book a quick 15-min session with me here on my calendar.

Looking forward to hearing your thoughts!

Hi Catherine

Personally, I use AI as a tool to improve the experience candidates receive (note-taking) so I can focus on the interaction and listening to the candidate. I've seen AI used to sift through sheer volume using keywords, for example, to filter down candidates who bring a specific skill set.

What I don't like and what I have seen many job seekers moan about is AI being used as an interview replacement for a human (Talent Partner/Recruiter).

AI is a great tool for improving efficiencies in the recruitment process, but having AI make decisions on behalf of a human is a step too far, as humans can read between the lines and understand situations better than AI can.

Thanks for taking the time to share your view Ben. Love that you are using AI to help you concentrate on the candidate more: I feel like candidates will welcome that, and to your point job seekers don’t want the human removed. Yes the sifting/screening process is a natural one for AI, and good to know regarding wanting that ‘human in the loop’ final decision making.
