Hi everyone,

We're currently reviewing how Personio interacts with Microsoft 365, specifically regarding the handling of employee absences. The existing setup works well: absences requested in Personio are properly synchronized with each employee's Outlook calendar.

However, we’re exploring a slightly different workflow:

Goal:
Employees would enter their absence directly in their Outlook calendar by booking a shared resource calendar (e.g., “Absence Calendar”). This calendar would act as a central overview of all team absences.

Question:
Is there a way to have entries from this shared Outlook calendar automatically reflected as absences in Personio?

From what we’ve tested and understood so far, Personio requires each absence to be manually submitted by the employee within Personio itself, and resource calendars cannot be used to generate absences.

We’ve heard this may have worked differently in the past, so we’re curious:

  • Has anyone successfully implemented a similar workflow?

  • Are there any workarounds or integrations (e.g., via API or automation tools) that could support this scenario?

Thanks in advance for your insights!

Best regards,
Daniel

Hi Moe,

this Article does not help us. Cronofy is already activated. Rooms are synced as well.

Ah I see! Ok I’ll tag some folks who might be able to help.

@Moe  - out of my skill/knowledge range I’m afraid, but it would be an interesting one to get an answer to. I can definitely see the benefits of a two-way API to enable absences to come from Outlook to Personio, as well as the other way around (which I know already exists).
