Germany: Part-time during parental leave

Hello hello!

I was wondering if anyone has best practices to share about employees who are working part-time during parental leave in Germany (Teilzeit in Elternzeit). Currently, we do not reflect the parental leave absence in Personio in these cases, nor in Status, nor under Time Off. We technically treat the employee as if they were a regular part-time worker (adjust working hours in profile and work schedule under Attendance). Does everyone else do the same?

What I’m thinking could be done: create a separate Time off type (and policy ofc) that measures the absence in hours and not days. Keep the employee as a full-time worker, and book X hours for every working day with said Time off type to reflect both the worked and absent time. The salary I would then have to pro-rate manually still. I’m not so sold on this idea, as it sounds like a lot of effort for nothing. Does anyone have other ways of reflecting this in an employee’s profile?

Thanks in advance for any hints, thoughts or ideas.

Cheers,

Sándor

Hi @mgyrs

it’s best to look in https://community.personio.de/. You can ask in there or see if someone asked already.

That’s our German-speaking community, where people from the DACH region can better help you :)

You would just need to register there again, as it’s a separate platform.

You can type in German or in English, but German might be more likely to get more responses.

Best regards,
Daniele
