In fact, I was enthralled with the day that I completely forgot to take a group photo - how silly of me! 😅

Anyway, I just wanted to express my gratitude to everyone who attended today (8 attendees out of 10 registrants!) and to highlight just how insightful, educational, and productive an event it turned out to be.

Thank you to you all:

Hosted by the remarkable @Kim Stringer , we were treated to questions and supportive advice that made two hours absolutely fly by. When people get together and can carry a worthwhile, values-based conversation like this, you can’t help but feel energised - the power of community!

Personally, I learned so much. As I mentioned to those who attended, I don’t know anything about HR and that has been the most exciting thing about my job. I get to learn so much about something I know so little about!

For example, I wanted to know if a manager (aspiring or otherwise) could be trained into checking in with their team more. Or was this, perhaps, something more in-built and innate? Avani (@avmar99) was quite clear: While empathy itself is more of a trait, you can absolutely train someone to practice this and to have difficult conversations with their team. Andra (@andra.enache) added that the structures needed to be put into place by HR specifically to train managers on this particular skill.

There was so much more I took away from today but I’ll let our group of professionals take it from here.

For those who attended, comment below and let the rest of the community know what your takeaway was from today’s event! Note: “I learned that Moe talks a lot” doesn’t count! 😂

So great to meet everyone. Already looking forward to joining the next one!

Thanks for organising this. It was great!

It was really lovely meeting you all! Thank you @andra.enache for adding to what a very fruitful and refreshing conversation. I was really inspired by how honest and vulnerable everyone was about the issues they were facing in their respective work.

@avmar99 @xtine08  @SophieA @Ines @MaddyBarclay @kraichura did you folks have some takeaways that have resonated with you?
